We are now in the higher lands were cows roam free
Local saettlements

The stone cottage we stayed in
Very much a cottage of the 1970's
The view from near our cottage
Off for an afternoon walk
The view from the lookout, hope the weather is beter tomorrow

Crocodile Bridge to Blyde River Canyon - one

A semi-tame bushbuck who lives within the camp area
We left in the morning, aimed for Crocodile Bridge Gate
This warthog was our last animal
These are the gates to the camp and the park
The low level bridge over the Crocodile River
And a crocodile next to the bridge
Our route from Crocodile Bridge to the Forever Blyde Resort

Sugar cane fields
The Loweld area is intensly farmed.  We drove though a variety of crop types
People -  the weather was damp, unpleasant and warm
Banana Plantations
Tamatoes
Pawpaws
A lot of road works were being done, leading to long delays
An enterprising lady was selling roasted macadamia nuts to the people waiting in the traffic.  R10 a pkt.  We saw many enterprising people selling to traffic jams !
Plantations, probably gum
A mico-bussiness under a macro tree

We drove northward and upwards
Massive gum plantations, straight trunks
We are in public land and this sign is not a joke !

Crocodile Bridge Area - Five

Warthog family

Guinea Fowl

In this part of the park we saw frequent rhino middens at the side of the roads
Some of the rhinos.

Pathways through the scrub

We arrived back at Camp in the late afternoon, readfy for more rain and to do battle with the communial kitchen stoves !!!

Crocodile Bridge Area - four

Blue Waxbills bathing in a recent puddle
Impala (everywhere)
Near Afsaal, still cloudy but the rain is over
A Hamerkop
The western areas have these Granite Gneiss type rock outcrops

We stopped at Afsaal picnic area for a lunch and leg stretch.

Our boerwors and kudu wors rolls
The guinea fowl and sign.  Now we slowely made our way back east to Crocodile Bridge Camp again.
This handsome boy was spotted through the bushes, resting on a termite mound
He got up and wandered off
Crossed the road in front of us

And disappeared into the long grass.
This was at dusk with little light - not the best situation to get a good picture !
