25 Oct - Olifants area, one

The next morning up early to watch the sun rise from the view point.  Thermos and coffee/rooibos.  The sun rises rather quickly !

The viewing area early in the morning.

After early morning sun viewing was time for laundry.  The girls quickly got the idea and caught a lift up the hill in a passing staff bakkie.
While the laundry was in progress we walked around the camp, looking at plants and scenery.
The Sausage tree, don't stand under this when the pods are falling !

Interresting texture of the bark, AP thought that these bumps where were thorns were in the tree's youth.

 Pods, about 15cm in diameter.
Long Acacia Pods, some about a metre long.

Byde River Canyon

29 October 2013

The next day we set off to visit some of the lookout points.  Along the way we passed many small  villages on the plateau.
Some lookout points wanted to charge far too much and others were just fine.   We just did not go to the expensive ones !

People sell stuff everywhere
After our drive we returned to our cottage for lunch, then went for a walk.  I sat quietly at the upper lookout to try and take pictures of the local animals.
